Description of the course / programme
The program aims to expand participants’ knowledge in dance technique, pedagogy, and methodology, while also supporting the development of folk dance ensembles operating in the diaspora.

Based on previous experience, special attention is given to assessing applicants’ prior knowledge more accurately. Therefore, the application requires submitting a short video recording (rehearsal or performance), which helps with level assessment and ensures that the training is effective and tailored for everyone.

Over the course of two weeks, participants will take part in intensive training. The first week focuses primarily on technical development, learning Hungarian folk dance material, and practising basic rhythm and endurance exercises. The second week concentrates more on methodological and pedagogical aspects through small-group sessions, micro-teaching, and exchanges of experience.

Following the recommendations of the instructors, the course is organised with an emphasis on flexibility, adapting to the composition of the group, and incorporating continuous feedback. To address different skill levels, participants will sometimes work together in joint sessions, while at other times they will be divided into groups based on level or area of interest. Diversity is not an obstacle but an opportunity: participants also learn from each other.

Experience has shown that the atmosphere of the course is strongly influenced by the linguistic environment. Therefore, the program is conducted bilingually (Hungarian–English): general communication takes place in English, while the use of Hungarian is also supported during classes.

Participants are selected based on submitted materials and the overall composition of the group.
