The Doctoral School of the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences (University of Szeged) was established in 2002. Our Doctoral School aims to give the opportunity for doctoral students to deepen their knowledge in research methodology in law and political sciences and to gain more experience in the theoretical background and the practical issues according to their special professional interests. Our Doctoral School provides facilities to pursue doctoral studies in the frame of 6 alternative training programmes. Beside the well-known university professors, there are numerous PhD supervisor associate professors having much experience. The younger generation of scholars at the Faculty also undertakes supervising tasks, therefore, we can provide consultants or supervisors in a great number of chosen research topics to those interested in the field of law and political sciences.The core fields of the programmes are Historical and theoretical jurisprudence, Comparative law, Private law, Public law, Criminal law, International and Business law, European law, Public policy, Social security and administration, International relations. The curriculum combines both theories and practices.

--Research proposal in 2-3 printed pages. (There is no specified format for research proposals, but the following areas shall be covered: introduction, short literature review, knowledge or previous experience of the chosen research topic, how the future research will make an original and independent contribution to knowledge, the aims and objectives of the research project, and the language of the future dissertation);
--Statement of acceptance by the future supervisor (if the chosen research topic has not been announced by the Doctoral School);
--Curriculum Vitae;
--Two reference letters by acknowledged professionals or university professors;
--Scanned copy of Master’s degree certificate,
--Scanned copy of a transcript of academic record to date (if relevant);
--Scanned copy of documents proving English language skills and qualifications;

Due to the wide-range doctoral programmes, not only lawyer graduates, but also those having master degrees in industrial relations, social security, public administration, international relations or political sciences can be admitted to our Doctoral School. Students shall apply for admission to our PhD training programme online.
First step. If the applicant chooses a special research topic (not announced by the doctoral school), he/she will get in touch with the doctoral school and the future supervisor and have his/her research topic accepted.
Second step. The applicant will receive a declaration of acceptance of the research topic.
Third step. The applicant acquires and prepares the documents to be attached in the admission procedure.
Fourth step. The applicant fills out the online application form and attaches the required attachments.
Fifth step. The applicant will be notified of the date and time of the entrance interview.
Sixth step. Online interview.
Seventh step. The applicant will be notified of the admission result.
