The aim of MA in Conducting course is to train conductors who, with the appropriate musical training, are able to serve and disseminate universal and Hungarian musical culture, especially in the field of orchestral culture. The orchestral conducting specialisation focuses primarily on the symphonic and operatic repertoire and its practical application (including the symphonic works of Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Mendelssohn, Liszt, Brahms, Dohnányi, Tchaikovsky, Mahler, Bruckner, Debussy, Ravel, Bartók, Stravinsky, Ligeti, operas of Mozart, Verdi, Puccini etc.) developing the skills, theoretical and practical knowledge essential for the artistic direction of different types of orchestras, based on knowledge of the various genres of classical and contemporary music.

Orchestra conductors are able to apply their highly developed communicational and advanced instrumental skills to rehearse and perform symphonic and oratorio works, as well as operas and musical theatre shows, and to play a proactive role in various musical institutions. The Orchestra Conductor specialization programme is supported by a number of professional orchestras and theatres, which, as partners of Széchenyi University, provide regular practical training for our conductor students.
