The primary aim of Doctoral School of Chemistry and Environmental Sciences is to train scientists who can continue their creative scientific work related to leading fields of chemistry and environmental sciences after completion of their MSc studies. It offers a wide variety of interesting and up-to-date research topics of high scientific and practical importance, supported by a suitable choice of special subjects, for completion of organised doctoral training. University degree (MSc) in chemistry, chemical engineering, environmental engineering, environmental science, limnology, biology, meteorology and geology (but not exclusively) may be appropriate for application. The following research centres/groups with high-standard infrastructural and scientific capacity ensure a successful training (indicating some characteristic topics): Atmospheric Chemistry (formation and characteristics of aerosols), Environmental Mineralogy (biogenic minerals, nanostructrures), Limnology (ecosystems of ponds and small water flows), Toxicology (eco- and genotoxicology of environmental samples), Behavioral Ecology (impact assessment – climate change, urbanization, reproductive evolution), Environmental Chemistry of Soil and Groundwater (interactions with anthropogeneous organic pollutants), Analytical chemistry – Separation Science (liquid chromatography), Radiochemistry and Radioecology (sorption and transport processses), Organic Chemistry – Synthesis and Catalysis (green chemistry, homogeneous and heterogeneous syntheses), Bioorganic and Biocoordination Chemistry (biomimetic reactions, enzyme models), Physical Chemistry of Condensed Phases (theoretical and simulation study of molecular fluids, phase equilibria), Environmental and Inorganic Photochemistry (photocatalytic degradation of pollutants, utilization of solar energy, reaction dynamics)
