The various fields of dental sciences form a very exciting research area nowadays. The oral cavity represents the first gate of the human body, therefore it has a privileged position in the point of immune homeostasis. It is not a simple entry gate to the organism: it has many essential functions including chewing, oral phase of digestion, tasting, speech and last – but not least – it has critical impact on the appearance of people. In addition, the unhealthy oral status favors to the development of various systemic diseases such as stroke, myocardial infarction and COPD. Another important part of dental sciences and research is interest comprises dental materials, the analysis of interfacial systems in dentistry, the polymers, including the hydrophobic, and hydrophilic systems with different nanoparticles, the metal ceramic-bioceramic, implant surface modification, the epidemiology of polymer and metal allergy and influence on cell metabolism. The accredited supervisors of the Doctoral School of Dental Sciences offer many interesting research topics from the above mentioned issues for the future PhD students and young doctors.
