Over the last decade, we have witnessed the appearance of a new branch of industry, info-bionics, which has already resulted in great products (genechips, cochlea implants for the hearing impaired, personalized medicines, neuromorphic sensing robots) within a short period, and is still developing at an amazing pace. It is the combination of two state-of-the-art technologies, informatics and biotechnology. The program has two focuses. One of them comprises issues relating to engineering, electronics and informatics where the data processing of living organisms provides models for engineering solutions or computational algorithms as well as methods needed to understand life better (e.g. neural modeling, bioi+H29nformatics). The other direction includes procedures, instruments and devices aiding the measurement, control and operation of vital processes affecting living organism and the quality of human life. This program is especially important in the context of interfaces, prostheses and rehabilitation. Examples include bionic eyeglasses, brain computer interfaces, neural electrodes, leg actuation, wheelchair navigation or devices that facilitate invasive operations with only minor intervention.

Specializations offered within the program:
- Bionic Interfaces
- Bio-nano Sensors and Imaging Devices
- Systems Biology

The curriculum of the study program (120 credits) comprises the following main modules:
- Fundamentals in Natural Sciences and Mathematics (15-25 credits)
- Skills in Neural Sciences and Electrophysiology (11-22 credits)
- Skills in Electronics and Computer Sciences (11-30 credits)
- Specialization (30-50 credits)
- Economics and Humanities (5-15 credits)
- Project Work and Thesis Work (42 credits)

The actual MSc study program is preceded by a compulsory foundation semester (in the fall semester) for international students.

VIRTUAL OPEN DAY!
Our Virtual Open Day is organised for all who are interested in our study programs.
DATE:
Thu 07 December 2023, 3.00 pm CET

REGISTRATION for the Virtual Open Day: https://forms.office.com/e/TtATx4a25B

1) Bachelor's degree in Molecular Bionics, Biomedicine, Electrical Engineering, Engineer Informatics, Chemical Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, etc. (with a diploma rate of over 75%). This should be proven by the degree awarded AND the transcript of all corresponding records. Applicants still doing their BSc should upload, in addition to their transcript, an official certificate of the EXPECTED date of graduation.

2) B2 level, internationally recognized English certificate according to CEFR (e.g. IELTS with total score of 6.0, TOEFL with a score of 90). Exemption: a) Bachelor's degree obtained in a full English language program, b) English as a mother tongue.
Entrance examination:Yes
Entrance type:both
Minimum level of language proficiency (oral):B2 (according to CEFR)
Minimum level of language proficiency (written):B2 (according to CEFR)
Place of examination:Online

If the application documents comply with the minimum entry requirements, the applicant is invited to take an online test. Subjects of the entrance exam:
- Chemistry,
- Biology,
- Physics and Electronics,
- Computer Science.
The topics covered by the entrance exam are available on our website: https://itk.ppke.hu/en/admissions/masters-degree-programs/entrance-examination-topics. The test does not cover the totality of the topics listed, applicants may get short, simple questions in any of them.

Based on their test result, the best applicants will be invited to an oral online interview. The topics of the oral interview include: a short summary of the applicant's BSc thesis, brief introduction of the institution from where the applicant graduated, personal and professional motivation of the applicant for choosing the Faculty of Information Technology and Bionics and the respective study program, and possible some questions about the selected field of study.
The Admission Committee sets the final score and admission result based on the application material, the online test and the personal interview.

International students are admitted to a compulsory foundation semester leading to their chosen Master's program. The foundation semester (taking place in the fall semester) consists of four three-week-long modules, each module comprising several subjects. The courses follow an intensive schedule, and each are concluded by a compulsory exam. Upon successful completion of the foundation semester, the applicant can start the actual Master's program.
