The academic staff of the Faculty is doing research in the most relevant fields of mechanical engineering and the related applied sciences. PhD candidates are welcome to take part in this research work in order to prepare for the PhD procedure. PhD at the Faculty is a degree that can be earned by sufficiently proving the candidate's ability for selfstanding scientific work that must be demonstrated by writing a thesis summarising the candidate's research results. Furthermore, it is necessary to pass a set of qualifying examinations in some basic and applied sciences related to the field of the submitted thesis. Candidates are to publish their results prior to the submission of their theses.
diploma of MSc in Mechanical Engineering, other MSc degrees can also be accepted but require particular decision (please contact us in advance), min quality of MSc diploma: good, successful admission exam, an internationally accredited (at least) B2-equivalent language exam in English. (There are alternative language exams our Faculty accepts: a) TOEFL iBT test score of 90 or PBT score 550, b) Cambridge 1st Certificate B2, c) IELTS score of 5.5.) Besides, our Faculty also accepts an official certificate of the Master’s studies in English issued by the previous university. A statement of the supervisor needs to be submitted to the application. The document declares that the supervisor undertakes to supervise the student’s work within the programme. To issue the statement, we kindly ask the applicants to contact the supervisor directly via e-mail. The website of the Hungarian Doctoral Council (http://www.doktori.hu) provides information about the available thesis topic proposals and the possible supervisors of the Géza Pattantyús-Ábrahám Doctoral School of Mechanical Engineering Sciences.
