Join the Master’s in Aquaculture at the Institute of Aquaculture and Environmental Safety of the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences (MATE), where tradition meets innovation in one of Europe’s leading agricultural universities. This program is uniquely positioned to harness Hungary's rich heritage and potential in freshwater aquaculture, offering a comprehensive education that prepares you for a dynamic career in this vital sector.
Aquaculture as a discipline is highly hands-on, so a critical approach to the information obtained and processes observed is essential. The skills acquired during this Master training will enable the generation of new information and technological processes in the field of aquaculture, as well as safe and sustainable fish farming. The training will pay special attention to the solution of complex problems and challenges, which will increase the responsibility and autonomy of the students. Graduates will also be able to continue their studies in one of the PhD schools of our university, if they so wish.
The program encompasses two primary focus areas:
Carp-oriented Pond Aquaculture: Delve into traditional methods of carp farming, which is a cornerstone of Hungary's aquaculture industry. You will learn about pond management, breeding techniques, and sustainable practices that enhance carp production.
Intensive Freshwater Aquaculture: Focus on the intensive farming of African catfish, utilizing advanced technologies such as Flow-through and Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS). This specialization emphasizes efficiency and sustainability, addressing the growing demand for fish protein.
