The master’s degree in Cultural Anthropology, UM prepares students to proceed to advanced postgraduate research or to work as practitioners in fields related to applied and visual anthropology both in the civil society and the business world, as researchers to use different kinds of qualitative methods of data collection and analysis, as experts to prepare and make policy briefs and recommendations in the government sector, and as change agents to identify, understand and analyze various types of sociocultural conflicts. In our program we place special emphasis on complementing theoretical education with practical experiences, as students are also required to carry out fieldwork in their home country or joining the fieldwork programs of the Department of Cultural and Visual Anthropology assisted by an instructor acting as interpreter.

Oral examination to reveal the motivation and the preliminary training of the applicant. The maximum score is 100 points: 0-40 points for the applicant's knowledge, 0-40 points for the knowledge of the specialized literature (in English) about the countries and nations of Central Europe, 0-20 points for the motivation and interest, commitment, later plans. The oral conversation is done through skype, facebook or e-mail. The decision about the admission is done by the admission committee of the faculty, based on the entrance exam score and the written documentation handed in by the applicant. The committee consists of ten members, chose by the council of the faculty, its president is the dean, the members are the lecturers of the institutions of the Faculty of Arts, and the representative of the Student Union of the Faculty.
