The objective is to train engineers who, based on their knowledge in the fundamental sciences are dealing with the structure, properties and behavior of materials (e.g. metals and their alloys, ceramics and silicates, polymers and plastics), also they are able to design and operate relevant technologies and can perform research and development activities. During the Materials Engineering MSc program students can be specialized in Polymer studies or Chemical Technological Engineering currently. Due to the different background of the students, they must attend some of the basic BSc courses of the specialization to achieve a better understanding of the field of Polymers and Chemical Engineering.

Degree obtained in a technical-engineering field (a BSc degree or a degree obtained in a university or college program). Students must complete all the core, specialization and elective courses that are required. Students must achieve a minimum of 120 credits according to the curriculum of the Materials Engineering MSc program.

The SH coordinator of the faculty contacts the applicant through e-mail about the time of the skype-interview. The coordinator and two, at least with the rang of lecturer, lead the interview. After an introductory conversation to check out communication abilities, every applicant must reply to the following questions: 1. Why did they choose the University of Miskolc? 2. What were their main and complementary specialisations in their BSc programme? 3. What was the topic of their thesis? 4. Why do they want to study to be a materials engineer? 5. What are their professional aims? 6. Do they have the required knowledge in Chemistry? Assessment: the applicant gets their points through percentage scoring in four main categories. The main four categories are English knowledge, professional background, behaviour, communication abilities.
