In 2023 the 2 doctoral schools in the field of management and regional sciences at MATE have been merged into the Doctoral School of Economic and Regional Sciences forming a multi-campus doctoral school. The Doctoral School of Economic and Regional Sciences welcomes students at both the Szent István Campus in Gödöllő and at Kaposvár Campus. The Doctoral School has two (disciplines, the Doctoral Program in Management and Organizational Science, and the Doctoral Program in Regional Sciences. Your PhD degree will indicate both programs. As studying and research take place in English in our program, a lot of students from foreign countries can join our programs by scholarship and self-financed way. The aim of the Doctoral School is to create an active national and international research environment on relevant topics for PhD students who deal with related issues in regional sustainable development in developed and developing countries, focusing on the contribution of SMEs to private and public sectors in a theoretical and empirical manner. The sectors of agriculture and food industry are at the centre of our research.

During the assessment, the emphasis is on the analysis of the uploaded documents, preliminary research activities and publications. There will be an online interview with the selected ones, during which the motivation, the professional background, the research proposal and the language skills of the students will be examined.
